Jacob Zwagerman

Day 1 1/15/16
We arrived safe and sound with no real problems getting here. the local village had a festival going on so it took us a long time to get back to the base. It brings back a lot of memories being back here and I am really excited for the rest of my week.

  1. The white owl stalkers have taken a break. The rain and even a thunder-boom or two has made Monday evening kinda strange. Pet’s are fed and basement is not flooding and all is well at home. This morning, Wednesday, it’s foggy outside. This weather is CRAZY!

I have been listening to a study on Daniel, which you know is one of my favorites, and I am on the Babylon talk in the beginning and it struck me. This is kinda what you talk about when you return whereby the cultural difference between where you are now and where you return to is so different. I am struck by the idea that we are each placed into this world for a reason and you are placed to do good work today just were you are. My prayer today will be for you to be a Daniel in your world.

    1. Thank you Mother, this site is working awkwardly so I am not sure what is going on, but I just received your comments. Today was the final day in the village where we dedicated the houses. All of the houses accepted Jesus as their personal savior and were very gracious for everything we had done for them. We will not return to the village. On the way home we visited the church they have been building for the past 2.5 years They need help and I will figure out how I can help when I return. It was profound to the see the difference between the Catholic churches in the village that are morphed with Mayan religions, to the evangelical church we visited today. The next two days we will be doing clinics in different villages all day.

    1. The weather starts out about 50 in the morning and gets to around 80. I got burnt for the first time yesterday. Usually we wake up at 5:30 and head to the village and work until 5. Today we have clinics so we woke up at 6:30 and started to count and organize medication, beans and rice. We will be traveling for a few hours after lunch to a new village to run the clinic. it will be hot. You can tell dad I have more pictures of some of the pigs out here. the homes we were at this year had a few more than last year. Today is the first day many of us had the chance to go to the orphanage. they are down to 8 little kiddos and they are a lot of fun. We have worked a lot this week so it is a very relaxing morning.

      1. Dad thinks it’s funny you remember him while on your trip. He says “You should be having some fun” with the funny grin on his face. He has been checking your basement to make sure you arrive home and find the house and animals good. He say’s your birds may be singing louder than mine, I am jealous. Hopefully the singing means that the baby birds will come this Spring for you.

        Stay safe.

      2. It was very hot yesterday, we were at a clinic all day. We arrived back at 11pm and we just showered and went to bed. we are now packing for our second clinic tonight. I should be back at church at 11pm-12am Sunday night/Monday morning. I will be taking Trina to school, I will be at your house at 7am Monday. I feel like yesterday did not go completely as we had hoped so your prayers for tonight’s village would be appreciated.

  4. What a blessing to hear your daughter pray for you. Stella also asked lots of questions about what you are doing. It’s good to hear these two talk about Jesus in their lives and pray and wonder about their world. I am looking forward to your return and the stories about Gods goodness.

  5. The sleepover last night was hilarious! Sleepover! It was more like a funover! I woke this morning to the girls having a tickle fight. They are enjoying their time together. Lincoln awoke to the girls playing school. The kido’s had lucky charms for breakfast and were talking about their daddies. It is a very cute little conversation. I am saying a prayer for you as the team must be wrapping things up. My prayer is that you remember that all that is done in Jesus name will grow. Trina will be on later today let us know when you can get a phone to work I know she would love to talk to you. She talked about you quite a bit on our ride from school yesterday.
